Man falls asleep at wheel, crashes into woods in Ryegate

RYEGATE — A New Hampshire man in Ryegate, fell asleep at the wheel and crashed an SUV into several trees on Monday night.

Police responded to the single-vehicle accident on East Road and Route 5 at approximately 11:10 p.m.

According to the report, 64-year-old Peter Frazer from Monroe, N.H., was driving downhill on East Road when he fell asleep at the wheel of his Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police say the Cherokee went through the intersection of East Road and Route 5 and traveled off the road, approximately 50 yards into the woods, where the SUV struck multiple trees.

The Jeep Cherokee was totaled, but Frazer, who police say was wearing his seatbelt, walked away uninjured.

Stove fire leads to methamphetamine manufacturing arrest in Ryegate

RYEGATE — A 28-year-old man from Ryegate is behind bars after police say a stove fire tipped them off that he was manufacturing methamphetamine.

On Friday, the Ryegate Fire Department responded to the home of Daniel Roy, at 375 Boltonville Road, for a reported stove fire.

While on scene, the fire department observed signs of a possible methamphetamine lab.

The Vermont State Police was contacted and responded to the location.
 
On Saturday, a search warrant was executed on the property.

During the search, police say evidence of the production of methamphetamine was found. All dangerous chemicals were disposed of.
 
Roy was arrested for violating his pre-trial conditions of release which was for the manufacturing and sale of methamphetamine.

He was lodged on $15,000 bail.

Two men arrested in Ryegate drug raid

RYEGATE — Two men are facing charges for the manufacturing and sale of methamphetamine following a drug raid in Ryegate.

Police say early Wednesday morning they received a report of a methamphetamine lab located at 375 Boltonville Road in the town of Ryegate.

Upon investigation, police obtained a search warrant for the residence.

On Friday, Vermont State Police along with Vermont Hazmat, Vermont EOD, and Vermont Clan Lab executed the search warrant.

As a result of the search, police say evidence of a methamphetamine lab was located.

Daniel Roy, 28, of Ryegate, and Jason Davidson, 32, of Woodville, New Hampshire, were arrested.

Tools stolen from Red Tea Kettle farm stand in Ryegate

RYEGATE – Two cordless drills with and a weed whacker were stolen from the Red Tea farm stand in Ryegate.

Police responded to the burglary at the farm stand at 3462 Scott Highway on Wednesday at approximately 6:49 p.m. but say the incident happened sometime during the night of August 9.

The victim, identified as Diane Farquharson, 35 from Groton, reported several items missing including two Ryobi cordless drills with the chargers along with a Ryobi weed whacker.

Police say the perpetrator used forced entry at the front door to gain entrance into the farm stand.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and police are requesting anyone with information to contact Trooper Haley at (802) 222-4680.

Police: Ryegate man seriously burned allegedly manufacturing meth

RYEGATE — A 28-year-old Ryegate man suffered serious burns when police say he accidentally set himself on fire while allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine on Sunday.

Police, fire, and ambulance crews responded to a call reporting a fire involving a camper on the Bayley Hazen Road, at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Police identified the man as Joel Alexander, 28, from Ryegate.

Through investigation of the origin and cause of the fire, evidence of a possible methamphetamine manufacturing process was discovered near Alexander, authorities say.

He was transported to Cottage Hospital and then flown to Boston for treatment where he is currently in serious condition.

Neighbors living in a house located next to the camper were evacuated and relocated for the evening.

The fire department and hazardous materials response team located, secured, and disposed of all harmful chemicals, police say.

No meth manufacturing materials were located in the main residence.

Police say the cause of the fire is still under investigation and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Police chase ends in arrest in Ryegate

RYEGATE – A 19-year-old man tried to elude police in Ryegate Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 10:10 a.m. when police say they attempted to pull over a 2000 Audi A4 on Route 302.

Police say the driver, identified as Joshua Kearney, 19, from Wells River, refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit ended on Pinehurst Road.

Kearney was was taken into custody and processed for eluding a police officer.

Police: Man accused of sexually assaulting woman, leaving her by side of road in Ryegate

RYEGATE — A 23-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after police say they responded to a report of a 21-year-old female that had been sexually assaulted and left on the side of the road.

Police say Michael Glynn, of Woodsville, New Hampshire, faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, domestic assault, and unlawful mischief.

According to a statement issued by police, their investigation revealed that Glynn picked the female up at her residence in his vehicle and drove to a sand pit located in the Town of South Ryegate, off of US Route 302.

While at the sand pit the victim told police that Glynn sexually assaulted and physically assaulted her while inside the vehicle.

Glynn is alledged to have forcefully removed the victim from the car after the assault and left her beside the roadway to walk.

Glynn was arrested at the Vermont State Police Barracks in St. Johnsbury on Monday, and transported to the St. Johnsbury Correctional Complex for lack of $15,000 bail.
