BARNET — A St. Johnsbury man was found dead in a submerged vehicle in the Passumpsic River on Wednesday.

According to police, there was an active search for a 29-year-old man after family members reported him missing.

Police identified the deceased man as 29-year-old Raymond Labounty III from St Johnsbury.

Police say Labounty’s family found tire tracks leading to the Passumpsic River, near the man’s childhood home on Silo Road in Barnet.
